The Bruerys Just A Kiss - Review by @Robyn_Seto

It is now mid-January and I am officially tired of winter. I’m feeling heavy after the rich food-filled holidays, and I found myself reaching for something to lift my palate. As I now begin to dream of springtime, Just a Kiss by The Bruery perfectly aligns with my seasonal desire. Just a Kiss is a foeder-aged saison with orange blossom flowers and honey, and the can is wonderfully as bright as the flavor.

Foeders are large oak barrels used in aging beers. Aging this saison adds a dominant oak flavor that compliments the typical funk of a saison. The orange blossom flavors bloom as the oak and funk fades. It brightens and uplifts the beer with fresh floral notes. The entire experience is rounded off with “just a kiss” of honey at the end of the sip as it dries. This beer is a bouquet of flowers in a beer in the best way possible. I would say that the body is on the heavier side for saisons, but it’s still very light.

This beer has very delicate and elegant flavors, and thus I feel that it would pair best with delicate and elegant foods. This would be a great alternative to wine in a charcuterie situation or at a cute little picnic with finger sandwiches. This is definitely a subtle yet fancy tasting beer, so it probably won’t pair too well with a greasy pizza or hot wings as those delicate flavors may get lost behind salt and spice.

While spring may be a couple months away still, there are plenty of beers like Just a Kiss that will transport you to a lush garden today!
